North West England, UK

PROJECT TEAM & PARTNERS

Project is being undertaken by consultants URS Corporation, partnered by survey company MRUK. The project is managed by the Northwest Regional Development Agency on behalf of the Northwest Climate Change Partnership

CONTRACT VALUE - €50,000

FUNDING - NWDA

TIMESCALE - 4 Months

DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT

This project is reviewing the progress made since the publication in 2006 of the first regional climate change perception study. It is essential that the study is reviewed on an annual basis to assess the validity of the key messages identified in the previous study and the effectiveness of the regional and sub-regional initiatives identified therein. The study will support the ongoing development of the regional climate change communication plan and provide a clear media steer for future communication initiatives.

The study will provide an understanding of the current perceptions of climate change from key Northwest business sectors and individuals, including considerations of the current economic climate. Recommendations will be provided for potential additions to the CCAP regional climate change communication plan to improve both the messages posed and conduits used for future climate change communications in the region. Assessments of the efficacy of recent communications initiatives will be provided.
