Regional

North West Fund

The North West Fund for Energy & Environmental provides a flexible equity package for growth oriented businesses operating within the Energy & Environmental sector.

This Energy and Environmental sector represents a diverse range of products, services and processes but all have the aim to provide a superior performance at lower cost whilst greatly reducing their ecological impact. The sector spans a number of industry segments including:

  • Cleaner fuel production
  • Electricity or heat generation
  • The transportation of heat and electricity
  • The end use of energy in transport, industry and the built environment
  • Water and waste water treatment
  • Recycling and waste management

The North West Fund for Energy & Environmental provides finance from £200,000 to £1.2million to businesses seeking finance from £400,000 to £5million. The investment will be used to support a broad range of needs from start-up and early stage development through to expansion plans for trading businesses. The investment will be in a combination of equity or quasi-equity, as best suits the needs of the company.

ERDF North West

The European Regional Development Fund is available to support sustainable economic growth across the North West. Funding for low carbon projects will generally fall into Prioirty 3. For more information and to find out if calls are currently open please visit the website.

National

New national funding streams are announced on a regular basis, here at ClimateChange Northwest we will keep you up to date on the latest opportunities, but you may want to visit the funding pages of the Department for Energy & Climate Change for the latest information.

Feed-In Tariff provides funding for electricity generating micro-renewables.

Green Deal is the Government's forthcoming flagship energy efficiency programme due in Autumn 2012.

Renewable Heat Incentive will support the development of renewable heat installations and is due to go live on the 30th September 2011.

The Carbon Trust provide up-to-date information on available finance for business.

Business Link have a useful website which explores the different finance options available and links to government grants.

The Technology Strategy Board opens specific competitions to support innovative low carbon technologies. They also run the regular Grant for Research and Development aimed at proof of market and concept and development of prototypes.

European

There are a number of highly competitive grants available from the European Union covering the full range of cliamte change activity. These have different calls for projects and it is worth registering directly with them for the latest information. The main ones are;
