| Action 7.1: Develop the skills required to deliver a low carbon workforce, through; Promoting climate change and energy through Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) in schools and Higher Education Institutes. | Lead: Northwest Regional Development Agency |

| Description: The Partnership is working with
education providers from across the region to both promote climate
change and ensure that our future workforce have the skills
required for the opportunities of a low carbon economy.
STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) skills are crucial to building a low carbon economy. They are recognised as a key to economic growth because they are the foundation level qualification required to equipped the region's key sectors with the highly skilled staff they require. The Partnership is supporting climate change STEM education activities in the region's schools through a website for teachers to inform them on climate change developments and provide classroom resources. We are also working with Keep Britain Tidy nationally to embed climate change into the Eco-Schools programme. We are also supporting the wider STEM activity of the Northwest Development Agency. |
