Action 10.2 - Develop a regional adaptation framework which sets out the regional response to projected climate change impacts and capitalises on opportunities for implementation and demonstration, taking into account; Flood and coastal risk management through catchment and shoreline management plans. |

Description: The Environment Agency has committed to ensuring that it's statutory functions on flood risk and shoreline management will take into account the latest climate change projections. In the Northwest this means that all the 13 catchments have catchment flood management plans (CFMP) and they estimate 55,000 properties are currently at risk of flooding in a one per cent annual probability event. However, this could rise to 75,000 by 2100 due to the effects of climate change. Information on these plans is available on the Environment Agency website. Shoreline Management Plans are also being developed in response to our changing climate. In the Northwest our coastline is being assessed by the Northwest and North Wales Coastline Partnership, a collective including local authorities, the Environment Agency, Natural England and English Heritiage.
