Climate change carries with it uncertainty.
Our philosophy towards adaptation in the Northwest is resilient to this uncertainty.
Rather than seeking a "well-adapted" Northwest, the actions we are undertaking are guiding us towards a "well-adapting" Northwest.
In line with recommendations from the UK Climate Impact Programme
(UKCIP), we are developing a framework that charts how climate
change adaptation will become embedded in all activties, through a
process of assessment, action and review. This is a continuous
cycle of assessment and review which will enable us to be flexible
to the range of climate changes that may occur in the future. It is
also a framework which can itself be readily applied to a range of
functions.
